Reading the earlier posts in this thread, I wonder if the "Release file expired, ignoring ..." error might be causing the apt update to ignore some of the other repos too, there's a fix for the expired error here: http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php?title=Sources.list_MEPIS_11#Troubleshooting:_Expired_squeeze-lts_Release_file

Added that, no change:

Code: Select all

The M11 CR packages weren't signed, or there wasn't a key for the M11 CR repos.

Maybe try this

Code: Select all

su -c 'apt-get install --allow-unauthenticated -t mepis firefox-esr'

Code: Select all

mark@mepis11:~$ su -c 'apt-get install --allow-unauthenticated -t mepis firefox-esr'

By 'no change' do you mean there's still a problem with trying to install firefox-esr? It should have at least gotten rid of the expired error.

edit: you should run a 'apt-get update' after adding the line to the /etc/apt/apt.conf file

Looks like that did it. Just got an update notice in the tray and am being offered 45.0.1.

Thanks to all. Running 45.0.1 (firefox, not firefox-esr) now. That also appears to have taken care of Twitter videos on sites not playing.

Bought me a little more time...

You should also be able to just download the firefox-esr_45.2.0...deb from here http://mxrepo.com/mepiscr/repo/pool/main/f/firefox-esr/. (RC then Save Link As...) After it completes downloading, use gdebi to install it. The depends are the same as the firefox-45.0.1. I don't have any M11 VMs in service any more to test this though. - mike
