[Solved] I just updated my system & it completely removed my PIA-VPN install
[Solved] I just updated my system & it completely removed my PIA-VPN install
Sorry guys, but I can't handle that. I think I'm going to have to move elsewhere.
I'd rather put up with the unknowns of systemd, than have my VPN removed on me without my permission.

You DO know that you can boot into systemd on MX right?

This sounds unusual to happen.
Maybe you could do some testing to see if you can find out what happened to help others in case it happens to someone else before you leave.

Re: I just updated my system & it completely removed my PIA-VPN install
What software do I have to remove to make my PIA-VPN work again?

Just boot into systemd. Or run from a terminal.
Code: Select all
./install_piavpn.sh

Re: I just updated my system & it completely removed my PIA-VPN install
Thanks for your distro & community guys. Both have been very enjoyable & comfortable. :)
If I have to go to systemd to get reliability in the crucial software that I use, then I'll go back Arch. The MX system that I use is nothing like your standard install, so I may as well go back to the build it yourself distro of choice if I have to use systemd. (yuk!)
I left Arch in 2011, due to its having become infected by systemd. Which is quite ironic really, when I find myself coming back to it after all of these years, looking for stability. At the time & for long after, I never would have thought that would be the reason I'd ever go to systemd.
I've been in love with pacman ever since I met her.
Looks like a busy day tomorrow.

Re: I just updated my system & it completely removed my PIA-VPN install
They changed something within their own pia-installer. So we needed to adjust our wrapper to handle sysvinit installs.
Quick fix:
Run from command line:
and run manually the installer
