Gnome-Hearts (Solved)
Gnome-Hearts (Solved)
MX 18.2 includes a package for gnome-hearts that works with the 4.19 kernel. This package is not found in Debian, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Arch, or Antergos (nor have I found it anywhere else). I am wondering why. I like MX very much, but would use an Arch derivative or Debian testing if this package were available for them (this is a matrimonial issue, as my wife likes to use this game -- I do not play these games). Is there a way a non-technical user like me could obtain a .deb or other package for this game that would work in another distribution?

Re: Gnome-Hearts
It's definitely found in Debian, so probably in the 'buntus:
https://packages.debian.org/search?keyw ... ome-hearts
And from searching on (what else?) "Arch gnome-hearts" it appears to be in Arch.

Jerry3904: It is hard to argue with your response; I can only say that having installed those distros recently they did not appear. Clearly, I either did something really goofy or they have just been added in again. Thanks for the information and the resolution of my issue.

Re: Gnome-Hearts
No, I don't think so:
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?q=gnome-hearts
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?K=gnome-hearts
Packaging for Arch is much simpler than for Debian though so the OP could probably do that themselves:

mod note: Signature removed, please read the forum rules
Re: Gnome-Hearts
It's been removed from Buster and Ubuntu versions after 16.04. I would guess that the kernel version doesn't have anything to do with it.Jerry3904 wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 12:05 pm It's definitely found in Debian, so probably in the 'buntus:

Re: Gnome-Hearts (RESOLVED)
It appears that there's a Qt version of the game we could try packaging instead: https://github.com/Rescator7/Hearts
Re: Gnome-Hearts (Solved)
Well, this is no longer resolved, clearly. I went back to Antergos on the basis of earlier information here and only confirmed my first impression that gnome-hearts is not available there (nor in debian or the buntus). MX is the only new distro that has it. I wonder if there is a way to obtain MX's version and then install it on debian buster -- any ideas? I've never compiled a package for either antergos or debian.

Re: Gnome-Hearts
If you open Synaptic, find gnome-hearts and right-click the package > Mark for reinstallation. Then click apply and on the dialog box that pops up check the box to Download package only. Then the deb should be in /var/cache/apt/archives/

Re: Gnome-Hearts
It won't build on a Buster base. I get a feeling the Stretch deb won't install in Buster. The same question has been asked several times on the Ubuntu forums.
MX's Stretch base is older than most Ubuntu releases, which is why we can still have the package. We haven't done anything special to update it. Maybe there's an Appimage of it floating around that will work on Buster, though.
