LibreOffice 6.2 announced with nice enhancements!
Re: LibreOffice 6.2 announced with nice enhancements!
I'm enjoying using and learning the v6.2.
It has some bugs that mainly seem to be just incompleteness on the part of the new interfaces, or perhaps I just haven't learned them yet.
All in all, I'm finding it more intuitive and easier to learn than Msft's Ribbon version although I only used it long enough to get done what needed doing.

How does this new LO handle macros?
I got a .doc from my publisher earlier and LO (current standard installed version) immediately started complaining about some functionality and turning it off and all that jazz. Hence.
Not changing my LO around yet, I have too much riding on the thing right now.

Does LO have an ESR, stable release like other software? It's great that they update this software so much, but I get concerned about regressions when there are rapid releases in Linux software.

On the LibreOffice website,
they offer a Fresh version, 6.2.x,
which is the newest,
and a Still version, 5.X.X,
which is still the Stable version.
If you use the Still version make sure you begin with the version X.1.1, at least not X.0.0.

Re: LibreOffice 6.2 announced with nice enhancements!
Thanks!
Checking the downloads they are showing 6.1.5 as the enterprise, corporate, or conservative user version:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/
Nice to know they offer that option.
Re: LibreOffice 6.2 announced with nice enhancements!
Oops.
They moved up a level while I wasn't paying attention.
V6.1.5 is very stable.
I was using that when 6.2.0 was released.
6.2 has 5 different interfaces; with the old standard always available. Good for getting work done while learning. :)

Re: LibreOffice 6.2 announced with nice enhancements!
I value my system for productivity; getting work done successfully is important. The last thing I want is the latest version of my office suite. Let the early adopters work out the bugs. Pox on the user interface changes.

I hear you, @figueroa.
I used WordStar for years
before I was forced
to change to Word.
Nowadays, I have less pressure,
a stable fallback system and
time to play with the new LibreOffice.
Started from before OpenOffice.org
could print. :)

Re: LibreOffice 6.2 announced with nice enhancements!
Upgrade is advised once LibO reaches X.Y.4 version.
I agree with Figueroa, except if you need a specific feature, you should wait before moving to a new version. I know 6.2 version comes with the Ribbon interface but I love the side panel

That side panel is great. I've gotten used to using it with Softmaker Office.
