[Solved] Redshift doesn't start on startup.

#1 Post by betman »

Greetings, everyone!
I can't get redshift to start upon logging in even though

Code: Select all

sudo redshift -c ~/.config/redshift/redshift.conf
has been added to Settings -->Session and Startup --> Application Autostart
What am I missing? BTW, the first time after I put the code in autostart menu, redshift had started, but not afterwards.
Thanks!

Did you install gtk-redshift package ?

I don't have anything to configure. Just launching redshift by clicking on the app icon, then selecting "autostart" in the tray icon.

Try configuring it manually. There should be a redshift.config file in the .config folder in your home directory. If you find your city/town on Google maps or Google earth, make a note of the coordinates in the decimal format and enter them to two decimal places in the redshift config file.
Example
Lat=34.66
Lon=-50.51
Also, make sure that location provider=manual
adjustment method=randr
You can also change colour temperature/brightness/gamma etc from within this file. Re-start Redshift, and your changes will be implemented.

Is the sudo necessary? I don't think you need it

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

You're right! Thank you very much! "Look who is the culprit!" 'sudo'. Removed sudo and redshift's working as expected. Could you explain why sudo was causing the issue, please?

sudo asks for your password (which never gets in the boot process)

The auto-starting process starts everytime you logout and login, irrespective of whether the system has booted everytime or not. So booting has nothing to do with it. Although, I agree with the password asking fact.

Sometimes you also need to install the package: geoclude-2.0
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
No todos ignoramos las mismas cosas. :confused:
