Do you still have it stuck on your screen?

Some packages take a very, very long time to unpack and install on older machines, notably ones like the Papirus icon debs, so first make sure it's not one of those situations, perhaps by letting us know and test the deb if it's free.

You can also try gdebi on the command line to see if you get better error messages:

Code: Select all

sudo gdebi something.deb
You can also use apt on MX 17 on the command line to install debs, which avoids some problems with gdebi. It's possible to add that as a right-click action in Thunar, and there's a KDE servicemenu package in our repo that does it for Dolphin or Konqueror, too.

Code: Select all

sudo apt install ./something.deb ./something2.deb ./something3.deb ...

And if all else fails.. kill it with the terminal, this command:

Code: Select all

killall -9 gdebi

Next time start it through the terminal to see if you get error messages.

Stevo there is a typo in your command, gedebi = gdebi. :)

Can you try gdebi-gtk instead of gdebi?

If we can test it ourselves, can you give us a link to the problem deb package?

and how did you install gdebi?

lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-17
lenovo s21e & 100s - antiX-17, MX17(live-usb)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
