[Solved]Unable to run Steam

#1 Post by megamessiah » Sun Oct 07, 2018 11:06 pm

Hello. I'm considering installing MX Linux but I've run into a snag with Steam. When downloaded and run with open source drivers it works fine but adding nvidia-driver to the mix causes terminal to display the following error:

Code: Select all

Error:
You are missing the following 32-bit libraries, and Steam may not run:
libGL.so.1
Steam app then displays "Fatal Error: Failed to load steamui.so". I found the similar post who was able to fix the issue by running:

Code: Select all

 apt install libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386
as the previous post suggests. This solves the issue, however, a new one has appeared. The new error reads like:

Code: Select all

Running Steam on mx 17 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
Pins up-to-date!
[2018-10-07 23:03:22] Startup - updater built Sep 8 2018 19:20:58
SteamUpdateUI: An X Error occurred
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Then the program does nothing. So now I'm back to square one. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thank you in advance and sorry for long post.

which nvidia driver did you install?
http://www.youtube.com/runwiththedolphin
lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-17
lenovo s21e & 100s - antiX-17, MX17(live-usb)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
