#1 Post by keos » Sun Aug 19, 2018 12:06 pm

Hi,

After installing yadex i have a problem with videos, i'm geting this error:

This video is either unavailable or not supported in this browser
Error Code: MEDIA_ERR_SRC_NOT_SUPPORTED
Technical details :
The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported.
Session ID: 2018-08-19:9eb0d129bce5451f9b865503 Player Element ID:player

Yandex works fine with firefox and Paleemon.

Thanks in advanced for any idea or explanation about it.

Have you already consulted the Yandex support materials? I see various options available with a web search and would think you might get more knowledgeable responses from people who actually use it.
Production: 4.15.0-1-amd64, MX-17.1, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 8 GB, Kingston SSD 120 GB and WesternDigital 1TB
Testing: AAO 722: 4.15.0-1-386. MX-17.1, AMD C-60 APU, 4 GB

It seems you are lacking ffmpeg https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... et#p458228 - Slimjet worked fine after this file was added.

I'm not sure how the file is added to Yandex.

Edit - https://yandex.com/support/browser-beta ... ideo-linux might offer the answer.

Interesting how a site that screams "FREEDOM"! forces its users to use the h.264 codec instead of providing libre alternatives like webm that the "censored sites" like Youtube offer, isn't it?

I know this is getting into political waters here, but that site is where Alex Jones and his ilk took their vile sewage after the big social media sites finally had enough of it.

Anyway, you can test to see if any Yandex fixes have it supporting h.264 here: https://html5test.com/

The test indicate that h.264 it is supported, the one not supported is the h.265

Yes, but Firefox doesn't support h.265 either, yet it works there. I don't think many, if any, sites are streaming h.265, and they may never do that if AV1 replaces it as planned.

In regards to the Real.video streaming issues, the problem really lies with the third party CDN (Content Delivery Network) that Real.Video uses.
the problem is that it exclusively uses HLS streaming, which requires downloading & running scripts within the HTML5 player when the page loads. if you are running No-Script, or blocking scripts by other means, the brightcove player will not work. also, Brightcove only supports a limited number of the most popular browsers.
Mike Adams (the creater of the Real.Video site), did not use diligence when looking for a third party CDN to host the videos. i guess because he really did not have much time as his You-Tube account got banned before Alex Jones account was.
fortunately, there are other alternative video streaming sites like Bitchute which also host all of the same conservative video accounts that were originally on You-Tube, including Alex Jones.
