Error in .conky/MX-antiX in Aug MX 17.1

#1 Post by larryg » Sat Aug 18, 2018 1:50 pm

When connected to eth0 only, I noticed that there is no eth0-up or eth0-down data in the conky graph when using the MX-antiX theme. The file etc/skel/.conky/MX-antiX has incorrect copies of "wlan0" in many places. After correcting the interface, it works fine.

Where should I report bugs like this?
Thanks...

Thanks for the report, this is a good place. Also in "Bugs and Non Packager requests": https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewforum.php?f=97 either way we get this.
I think this should have been true for older versions, I don't think we changed anything in /etc/skel in the last releases.

We have not touched this theme from the antiX developers since we included it in the first place. I believe that the theme is supposed to detect which interface is active and only show that. I haven't looked at it in a long time, but you should open Conky Manager, highlight the theme, then click on the gear icon on the menu bar >> Network tab, and enter the correct config.

That particular theme is one that I use on a routine basis.

Its set up so that the following interfaces, if present and active, are displayed.

eth0
eth1
wlan0
wlan1

If the user's interface in question is not one of those, then when connected no information will be displayed.

So what did the user correct?

lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-17
lenovo s21e & 100s - antiX-17, MX17(live-usb)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

That's what I thought--and good question.

@larryg: I would suggest you start with the original and not correct anything in the script. That original is in

/etc/skel/.conky/MX-antiX/

where you can copy it and paste it into your home hidden conky folder. Then try it and see if it picks up your config.

I have reviewed the code in great detail...
The code is incorrect.

Here is a code snippet of the error.
Please look at the "eth0" followed by "wlan0"

Code: Select all

${color}eth0 up: $alignr${color3} ${upspeed wlan0}
${color}$alignr${upspeedgraph   wlan0 30,170 5599cc 5599cc}
${color}eth0 down: $alignr${color3} ${downspeed wlan0}
${color2}$alignr${downspeedgraph wlan0 30,170  5599cc 5599cc}${endif}${if_up eth1}
${color}eth1 up: $alignr${color3} ${upspeed wlan0}
${color}$alignr${upspeedgraph   wlan0 30,170 5599cc 5599cc}

I see what you mean. Maybe we introduced an error somewhere, will take a closer look at it.

Awesome. Thank you.

What repo is this in? I noticed that github has 75 repos for MX-Linux.
I'm really impressed with MX-Linux so far, and I want to continue to give you all any feedback on issues that I see.

I did see an unrelated issue with UEFI install I'm trying to pinpoint. Looks like it might be a partition mount problem.
Regards,
Larry

commit 42cb9d98576a06d87b55663fc876ce97da4fbccb (Dec 1, 2017) caused the problem...
Just a simple copy/paste error.
