Can't save doc to Dropbox (Windows) [Solved]

#1 Postby danielson » Tue Nov 21, 2017 4:44 pm

This was a problem on Solus 3 but not on Ubuntu Budgie.
Is there a workaround or some config i'm missing out on ?
Just can not save a LibreOffice doc to Dropbox located on Windows side.

Easy to open any file there but can't create on MX-17 to save in Dropbox on Windows side.

Incomprehensible. Please restate the problem so we can understand.

What do you mean "on Windows side?"

What does "but can't create on MX-17 to save in Dropbox on Windows side" mean?

I use dropbox all the time without issue.

That said...check the permissions on the dropbox folder to make sure your user can access it.

Also, if the dropbox folder is mounted over a fuse file system (like samba) then libe office cant save to that folder directly. Save the file.locally then drag using thunar to the dropbox folder.

I can access all the files on Dropbox (located on Windows side - dual boot situation).
Can modify but not save them in their initial location.
Have tried to copy/paste a file from desktop to Dropbox, but that doesn't work.

Wait...your Dropbox folder is on a ntfs partition?

How are you mounting the partition. It sounds to me like you have it mounted read only.

Found it!

Under "driver" in Disk Manager : select ntfs-3g (read-write driver) instead of ntfs.
Yay!
