I am using on my desktop an upgraded install, as are a lot of other users...
I forgot about that, yeah those who upgraded from MX-17 don't have the sha* custom thunar action.

which is why the migration notes from mx17 to mx18 say the thunar custom actions have been redone.

I'll write up a wiki. I don't think there is one.

Let's see what we have:

Code: Select all

$ grep -E '
|
|\.iso|\.sha256' /etc/skel/.config/Thunar/uca.xml | grep -iE 'check|compute|ISO|pattern'

Code: Select all

Display checksum of ISO

<patterns>*.iso;*.ISO</patterns>

Compare ISO and hash files

<patterns>*.md5;*.md5sum;*.sha;*.shasum;*.sha1;*.sha1sum;*.sha224;*.sha224sum;*.sha256;*.sha256sum;*.sha384;*.sha384sum;*.sha512;*.sha512sum</patterns>
So we have two: the first just computes and displays checksums for given isos's
The 2nd one, verifies given signatures of the iso's.

Meanwhile, everyone, gtkhash is preinstalled, as is its thunar plugin.

The gtkhash plugin already allows checks by rightclicking on the iso in thunar.

You just need to choose Properties in the context menu, then Digests tab in the Properties window. You'll see that you can choose to generate hashes of different complexity including sha256. Select the 256 option and click button to start generating hash.
