Post by vamsi » Sat Jun 15, 2019 1:28 pm

I recently purchased one usb device when connected to usb port my pc will get wifi symbol and i can scan for wifi this all works perfectly fine in windows. After when i tried to do samething in MX Linux it doesn't show any wifi symbol or it doesn't even show that there is a device. Here is the command and output.

When you plug it in, what is the return to this command:

Code: Select all

dmesg | tail
Production: 4.15.0-1-amd64, MX-17.1, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 8 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Testing: AAO 722: 4.15.0-1-386. MX-17.1, AMD C-60 APU, 4 GB

Well that's not it. So it's not being seen at all.

Can you get the device's specs (brand, model, mac address, etc.) from the Windows side? Once you have that, you can do a web search on 'Linux <that info>" or "Debian <that info>" to see the support situation.

Does the device have any sort of FCC information on it or on the packaging? I know you're not in the USA, but the manufacturer might have it on it anyway.

Thanks. Now that we know the name, there's a lot of info on how to install this to be found in a web search on "linux Realtek RTL8188FTV Wireless LAN." I haven't looked closely, but I see lots of solutions you might want to look through. Get back to us if you need more help.

That video shows a process for installing a completely different driver than what you need. Another result from searching as Jerry suggested leads to this which should be the right driver:

Thanks. Now that we know the name, there's a lot of info on how to install this to be found in a web search on "linux Realtek RTL8188FTV Wireless LAN." I haven't looked closely, but I see lots of solutions you might want to look through. Get back to us if you need more help.
Thanks for your suggestion and downloaded the driver and successfully compiled it and restarted the system but nothing was changed i followed acc to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syZcfQ8cgQM and before that i tried to download the driver and tried to compiled it but all of them failed ...
That video shows a process for installing a completely different driver than what you need. Another result from searching as Jerry suggested leads to this which should be the right driver:

Thank you for your suggestion and installed the driver perfectly but nothing changed after installing this driver i couldn't understand the real problem. Thanks in advance
