Canon MG2500 Series Printer

#1

Post by stephenmasterson » Thu Jan 24, 2019 2:41 pm

Hello,

I hope someone can help me. I've been searching all over google trying to find a way to set up my canon mg2500 series printer in mx-18. It will print a test page, but nothing else. ubuntu has a ppa for it, and I know mx doesn't use ppa's.
I need the printer for my daughters school work. I hope there's a fix for this, because I really want my MX back.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Have you tried this driver? It's .deb file so once you RightClick Extract it, left clicking on the extracted file should let you install it.

Thank you for your help. Very much appreciated. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I installed the drivers for the canon mg2500 printer and the scanner works just fine, but the printer doesn't print. I think it might just be the make and model of the printer itself, because I tried the PPA in ubuntu and it did the same thing. I am on MX-18 and I love it ! So I will buy a new printer.

Thank you very much

When you go into the Print Settings (type that up top in the menu) and right click on the printer, is the printer enabled?

I wager it is.. but it can't hurt to check.

I found this on-line, which is pretty long-winded, but worth a try:

If you decide to replace your printer, HP tend to be the most likely to work with Linux, and the Package Installer has a utility to help you install.
