No, I meant choosing windows boot manager as boot option in the computer's bios-settings.
Sorry if my formulation wasn't clear enough.

Maybe the problem isn't fully related to bad sectors: every time after my laptop auto-suspends it's always impossible for me to login from lightdm as user. :bawling:
"startx" command works as root. But not as user: Here's the image with the output.

And here's also the log from the "Xorg.3.log" file in /home/michele/.local/share/xorg/

Before facing this login problem I had copyed this 2 files on my system to try to disable tearing, but they should not affect my configuration in any way since I removed them!

You might consider to get a new hard disk. I would recommend to make a backup of your data
from a live-booted system. You never know how long you will still have access to the data on that damaged disk at all.

Maybe the problem isn't fully related to bad sectors: every time after my laptop auto-suspends it's always impossible for me to login from lightdm as user.
Could be something else, like folder/files permissions in /home do a "ls -al ~/" see if the folders/files are owned by you or by root (have you logged in as root in LightDM before you started to have problems?

have you logged in as root in LightDM before you started to have problems?
I don't remeber. It could be.

That's looks OK to me, sometimes you can see that the files/folder are owned by root if somebody made a change by mistake, but this is not the case here.

doesn't look "ok" to me

Code: Select all

drwx------ 2 root root 4096 gen 11 12:41 .gvfs
this can result from su or sudo (vs gksu) being used to launch a graphical program.

Would the unreadable (by anyone other than root) status of .gvfs interfere with desktop session login?
(asking b/c I wonder, but haven't tested this)

I don't know if installing a lightdm alternative could be a solution, as this problem is probably related to permissions or xorg

The only graphical program I have run as root is thunar as I used it to copy the 2 files I previously talked about. But I am completely sure that I didn't change permissions to files/folders.
