Big problems on HP Pavilion with AMD A10 and R8 GPU

Lot of problems here guys, either with MX17 and MX18.

Live session was very unresponsive with MX18, Welcome window was transparent and also the Installer first prompted window was transparent.
Impossible to install. Starting Live Session in Failsafe mode was even worse as the screen was just "broken" (crippled lines, no icons, etc).
MX17, no way...blank screen with a blue flavor. No icons, nothing.
I suspect it's a GPU problem but I am not sure how to debug or try to find out more.

FYI, Linux Mint 19.1 XFCE just works flawlessly.

Any idea? Mint is a second choice for me, I would like to install MX but I do not have time to struggle too much.

Thank you.

try setting adding this boot code:

Code: Select all

amdgpu.runpm=0
and see if it helps.

If that doesn't help, the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -G
on Mint and MX would help.

It did not help, no change vs default boot code.

On Mint (I could not run it in MX Live because of the non responding system).

Code: Select all
