“Number Six Key” Now Works Some Times

#1

Post by Kreative » Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:14 pm

I have a keyboard less than a year old, the “Number Six Key” now works some times. Could it be due to a buggy update?
I have a Perixx PERIDUO-307B Keyboard.

MXL identifies it as 105-key international keyboard, but It looks like a 88 or 89-key one? This may be the problem?

I don't think identification is a problem. Many people report that this keyboard works great under Linux. Also, if identification were the problem then it would be consistent. It sounds more like the problem is in the keyboard itself. One reviewer at Amazon said some of the keys stopped working after 6 months. Her husband was able to take it apart and clean it and/or fix it so it is working again.

No, not again! I had to put down a 2005 Zippy Keyboard w/ 2 USB Ports earlier this year, along w/ my Logitech Marble Mouse Trackball! The're almost like pets to me 9_9

If it is a worst case scenario & I have to put it down too. Which new Mini or Compact Keyboard do you recommend? Note I have small hands...

My keyboards and mice usually only last a few years.

I'm using a keyboard which I bought with my first PC back in 1990s.

It looks a bit manky but it works great.

They don't make 'em like they used to.

I still have a 1990's IBM Multimedia Keyboard, that works; but it's a little grumpy 8(

They don't make 'em like they used to... that goes for trucks too, the new ones are unreliable because of computers. Even Consumers Buying Guide says so too!

I have a happy hacking keyboard, perfect for my small hands. Been using it for YEARS now.. I don't remember when I bought it, it's been that long ago.

This version linked is what I have. The pro 2 misses the arrow keys and they are crucial for me to be easily accessed. I am sure you can find the thing elsewhere as well :)

My only gripe w/ Gear Head USB Mini Windows Keyboard, Black 89-Keys (KB1700U) is the Ctrl & Fn keys are backwards for me. Plus I can get one local.

The GMYLE & SR Mini Keyboards are all over the net, they look ok and the same to me.
