Bluetooth mouse won't connect [Solved]

#1 Post by chrispop99 » Mon Sep 24, 2018 1:28 pm

I'm trying to get a Dell Bluetooth Travel mouse to work with a Dell laptop. Hardware compatibility is not the problem; it's the work of seconds to get it to connect using the Windows 10 install on the laptop.

Using the Blueman applet, and setting the mouse in discovery mode, allows the mouse to be seen. Attempting to pair results in the error message 'Failure to add device'.

Proceeding without pairing results in the message 'Congratulations, device successfully added'. the mouse fails to work however.

I followed a suggestion in the Wiki to install gnome-Bluetooth, without any improvement.

Any ideas what to try please?

Chris

For anyone with a similar problem, after two days of head-scratching I found the solution here:

If anyone is able to do this, perhaps the attached text file might be a starting point?

Chris

I can add the text as is to the wiki. Beyond that I have no direct knowledge to make any technical edits.

Thanks; I'm as confident as I can be that the process in the text is correct, as I repeated it step-by-step as I wrote. The links were copied and pasted, so should be right.
