How to get display back after foul up?

#1 Post by Redacted » Sun Aug 12, 2018 1:11 pm

On an old Mac, for some reason only 1 screen resolution works (with both nouveau and nvidia drivers) which is totally fine.
I forgot however, and tried to change the resolution.
Blank screen.
I added nouveau.modeset=0 to grub, and it booted to the desktop fine. But the proper resolution wasn't in the list, and a reboot was to a blank screen.
If I space out again, what do I do in the desktop to get it right? Re-install the drivers?
Thanks.
edit: I used a snapshot from my Lenovo, so everything's fine. this is just a question for the future.
