Keyboard layout - Portuguese Brazil PT-BR

#1 Post by timelf » Mon Jun 04, 2018 7:06 am

Hi everyone,

First my congrats to you all, this MX 17 is awesome. I am leaving mainstream distros, this is my bet.

Well, I am having some trouble to set the correct layout to Portuguese Brazilian ABNT and ABNT2 layouts.

This is an issue that the mainstreams distros solved many many years ago.

Please help me set and install, etc.

Let me better explain the issue:

I cannot write correctly with our special characters...
This is when I click in "~" and then "a" the result is like in english, ~a, but I need to put that ~ above the "a" resulting in "ã"

Have you checked your "compose" character in Settings/Keyboard/Layout?

if you have installed all updates, you should have a tool called

fskbsetting

available. Its graphical, but I don't think it has a menu entry. This tool has a lot more keyboard options exposed.

You can also try

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
which should expose all keyboard options available.

lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-17
lenovo s21e & 100s - antiX-17, MX17(live-usb)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Do you mind send us the output of this command from the command line within terminal:

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -query
Gigabyte Z77M-D3H, Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2 (Quad core), 32GB RAM,
