The 4.17 kernel will provide significant power savings

#1 Post by Stevo » Mon Apr 16, 2018 10:12 pm

based on preliminary tests: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page= ... -417-power

So battery life should improve, as well as letting our machines run cooler under any load.

We'll try and get the 4.17 kernels into our repo as upstream stable versions become available, of course.

Yes. It will take some months for an upstream Debian or Liquorix 4.17 kernel to become available, though since power savings depends on p-state, which Liquorix currently does not use, it may not make any difference for Liquorix. There should be an antiX 4.17 kernel available much sooner than that, going by past history.

Smiling, will there be more Ryzen chip improvements in 4.17?
