[Solved] Epson L382

#1 Post by dr-kart » Mon Mar 12, 2018 3:11 pm

 Brand new Epson L382 all-in-one device. Unpacking...

on my MX17 it is detected by system-config-printer and drivers are installed. But it just won't work.

Alternatively I downloaded and installed (as https://mxlinux.org/wiki/hardware/printer-drivers#Epson says)
L382 Series Printer Driver Linux 1.0.2
+
L382 Series Scanner Driver Linux 1.3.26
And got same outcome for printing.

Both methods fail test page printing.

(Test in manjaro went well. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/epso ... r-201601w/ is installed. Test page is ok)

I think you downloaded the printer utility 1.0.2 and not the driver 1.0.0

like I quoted beforehand in 1st post. Yes I've chosen 1.0.2 as latest. Wrong decision? Why?

Choose the 1.0.0 ESC/P Driver (full feature)

The utility is not the printer-driver.

The download page is confusing. Both the 1.02 & 1.0 files have the category of Printer Driver, but if you look to the right you'll see one is a Utility and the other is the Driver. You need to have both.

Just did. The same result with 1.0.0 ESC/P Driver after removing 1.0.2 Epson Printer Utility
And I tried all three files too. The same as in 1st post.

Thing is that system-config-printer was ready (and did) to install L382 driver even without extra manual downloads from epson. That looks suspicious to me.

Well, the printer-driver-escpr package is already installed in MX-17. Normally it will "just work" automatically supporting your printer (although not the scanner portion which does require the download).
Since your printer did not work with the pre-installed driver, and you downloaded & installed the ones from Epson, perhaps you need to remove the printer-driver-escpr package. They might be interfering with each other.

In sytem-config-printer , if you right-click on the printer and choose properties, you can change the driver to use under mark and model.
