bluez daemon not running.

#1 Post by bluedigit » Tue Dec 19, 2017 8:41 am

Hi, here's a new little trouble. I've plugged an USB BT dongle (BCM 2035) and seems recognized but opening Blueman manager gives a warning about "no bluez deamon running or device not detected".
As usual here's the "inxi" output and other output that may be useful:

There are lots of hits about problems with BT dongles, including this one. I googled your error message to see many of them, then "debian 9 BCM2035 dongle" to see more.

The message is probably not about bluez but about no device detected. I will have time later today to look at this in detail and get back to you.

Let's try a couple of things to get some more information.

1. Unplug the dongle, wait a second, then plug it back in. In a terminal, enter

Code: Select all

dmesg | tail
Paste the output here.

2. Again: unplug the dongle, wait a second, plug it back in. In a terminal, enter

Code: Select all

hciconfig
Paste that back here.

3. If step 2 lists something like hci0, then enter:

Code: Select all

hciconfig hci0 up
Paste back any output.

The firmware (for 2033) is installed, but may not be picked up.

Great, thanks.

1) Can you check what I was looking for again?
2) Please run that third one as root
