#1 Post by rover » Sun Dec 17, 2017 4:38 am

Hi everyone !
Following advice from this post http://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php? ... d42ddd3d54, i've waited
for MX-17 release to test again on a Lenovo G50-45 laptop.

Unfortunately ,the issue persists .Once again inxi -F output for the device is

So when i activate bluetooth manager and search for devices i get this error

I know that this has something to do with the particular laptop , because testing on my windows laptop ( an older clevo w253) bluetooth works as intended.

If anyone can provide any advice over this i 'll gladly welcome it , and of course provide any other necessary information .
Best Regards

Well it indicates that your BT device is not working. Here's what I get:

Code: Select all

$ hcitool dev
Devices:
	hci0	00:02:72:39:B5:58
I have a disfunctional one on my testing machine, so just bought a cheap BT dongle and it works fine. There's lots of them out there--I use a Kinivo, currently on US Amazon for about $13, and there are other good ones for even a few dollars less.

Let me check:

--do you see a BT icon in the Notification Area?
--if yes, when you click on it do you get an option to enable BT?

Thank you for the reply .
I find odd that rfkill list outpout

Code: Select all

$ rfkill list
0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
1: ideapad_bluetooth: Bluetooth
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
2: phy0: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
3: hci0: Bluetooth
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
does not seem to indicate that the device is blocked (if i interpret correctly ! )
And bluetoothctl commands give this output

Code: Select all

[bluetooth]# power on
Failed to set power on: org.bluez.Error.Failed
[bluetooth]# scan on
Failed to start discovery: org.bluez.Error.NotReady
Appreciate your help .

Best Regards

Yes there is an icon and when i select the bluetooth on option nothing happens ,the icon remains gray( and iirc it is supposed to turn blue) and options in the right click menu are greyed out.
Hope this helps

I have the same problem on a HP laptop (xini -F) Machine: Device: laptop System: HP product: HP Notebook v: Type1ProductConfigId serial: N/A
Mobo: HP model: 81EE v: 62.39 serial: N/A UEFI: Insyde v: F.24 date: 01/20/2017

The bluetoothicon shows up but does not turn white when i select turn on bluetooth.
With dmesg I get the ouput "hci0 urb ffff9342f35f70c0 failed to resubmit (113)" after trying to turn on bluetooth and after log in as user

output of rfkill list all =
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
1: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

Here are some error-messages of dmesg relating to bluetooth:

platform MSFT0101:00: failed to claim resource 1: [mem 0xfed40000-0xfed40fff]
acpi MSFT0101:00: platform device creation failed: -16 (don't know if those two messages relate to BT)

Bluetooth: hci0: rtl: examining hci_ver=06 hci_rev=000b lmp_ver=06 lmp_subver=8723
Bluetooth: hci0: rtl: loading rtl_bt/rtl8723b_config.bin
bluetooth hci0: firmware: failed to load rtl_bt/rtl8723b_config.bin (-2)
bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for rtl_bt/rtl8723b_config.bin failed with error -2
Bluetooth: hci0: rtl: loading rtl_bt/rtl8723b_fw.bin

Have I to install some special firmware to get bluetooth to work?

Thanks for your help in advance
