Deleted all bumblebbe packages and installed Stevo's nvidia-prime package. When trying to switch drivers get an error message

Code: Select all

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display :"1.0".

This is what caused me initially to create an xorg.conf which then caused no desktop.

glxgears does not run with same xlib error. However it runs with the command optirun glxgears.

Hope this is not as confusing to you as it is to me.

as a wise person once told me, let's see if we can figure out a procedure manually, and then possibly make a tool to do it.

check out this wiki. there is a section for debian jessie (which is what mx 16 is based on) and lightdm ( or display/login manager).

While it won't switch on the fly, it should enable nvidia full time.

lenovo s21e - antiX-17, MX17(live-usb)

That's OK, I am patient.

I run a few more Distros (many-boot) wher by MX16 is holding all data (meaning the root partition (no home) of MX16 is used to symlink to other Distros as their Document, VirtualBox VMs, etc.) saving a partition.

Sadly lots of distros seem to get into trouble with GPT partitions, even though you create a BIOS boot Partition.
