I'm using an old Acer laptop this time with my external Samsung 24'' 1080p monitor. at 60Hz there are annoying artifacts on the screen (which I was not able to fix with Windows manager Tweaks). When I choose 50Hz (always 1080p) the screen is crystal clear, but the panel on the left disappears. What does refresh rate have to do with screen real estate since I'm still at FHD? Is there any way to go to 50hZ and not lose the left panel column?
