Solved - Lenovo G50-30 Sound Problem

#1 Post by namida12 » Thu May 10, 2018 8:50 pm

I am trying a Lenovo G50-30 laptop, have not purchased yet. Running from Flash drive in demo mode. I use a laptop for Video Chats - No real reason for a laptop other than when visiting Japan to have access to internet and 10 or 15 weekly video chats, with family and friends. I use several Desktops when home, but only video cam is in My old depreciated Chromebook 710.

Thought I would try and see if this reasonable priced Lenovo G50-30 without a hard drive could replace my Chromebook. The Lenovo G50-30 Computer boots well from a flash drive, but when I tried to do hangout test, they can not hear my voice in the google video chat. They can only hear a static or a low volume scratchy jumbled nonsense. I was able to communicate using hangouts VideoChat with my cell phone, also it worked well in my inexpensive Barns and Noble book reader "nook".

My Acer 710 Chromebook performs many levels above this unit in Videochat, believe this system will not be able to replace the old chromebook. Unless there is an easy solution someone can suggest that is not discussed on the internet.

This system has a 15 inch screen that I really am enjoying, camera is many years older with less definition, but the Intel the Atom Processor sound card does not seem to work well, and that is going to be the deal killer I assume...

If this could replace the chromebook temporally then I would have time to convert my chromebook to MX-17.1 as a number of these Acers have already been converted to MX-17.1 by members of this forum.

Solved please see other thread in AntiX section of the MX--Linux Forum: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=45204

Now to convert my Chromebook to AntiX as other MX Forum users have managed to accomplish.
