MX Live USB maker

#1

Post by turtlebay777 » Tue Aug 13, 2019 7:33 am

Whilst using this program I find that the last bit

Code: Select all

check md5 for linuxfs
takes almost as long on a USB 2 (USB 3 not available) as the rest of the recording session.
Is there a Terminal order I can make which makes it end without doing the md5 check?

Change /etc/mx-snapshot.conf, see this section:

Code: Select all

; Change to "no" if you don't want the md5sum file created with the iso.
; (Default is "yes")
make_md5sum=yes
Let me know if it work, I don't think I ever tested this feature.

Any thought of pulling that option out of the config file and making it visible to the user?

are you guys talking about the same thing? The OP posted about MX-LUM and the response was about mx-snapshot.conf?

LUM checks the md5 of the linuxfs file while to ensure the copy is good.

if you use the live-usb-maker (not mx-live-usb-maker) command line tool, you can use "--force=nomd5" to prevent checking the md5 of the linuxfs.

lenovo s21e - antiX-19 beta 2 (live-USB)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

don't know if this will work but i have added this variable to etc/mx-live-usb-maker.conf

Code: Select all

make_md5sum=no
as this is just a test machine I'll see if it does anything when the torrent finishes downloading.

I think making a file /etc/live-usb-maker.conf that contains:

Code: Select all

FORCE=nomd5
should work if you are using the the version of LUM in MX-19 and antiX-19. Earlier version have the configuration at /root/.config/live-usb-maker/live-usb-maker.conf. Also, this file gets written automatically if it doesn't exist. It is fine to remove everything else from the file.

The GUI versions of LUM, such as mx-live-usb-maker, all call the command line version which has a ton of configuration options. PLMK if this works for you.

Since the command line version is a shell script, its configuration file is written in shell script too so things like spaces around equal signs are no-nos.
