How do you also create a terminal base shortcut for the desktop

I don't know if the launcher is the right way to do it , or should i make a script

I want to create a shortcut for my mum with
if I wanted a "sudo apt update && apt upgrade"
Creating a teminal based Desktop-Launcher is similar procedure as stated in post #2 :
Right-Click on Desktop.
Enter like the Example below
Name: My Updater
Comment: Running sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade
Command:

Code: Select all

x-terminal-emulator -T "My Updater" -e bash -c "sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade; echo;read -n 1 -s -r -p '...Press any key to close'"
Save/Create ... Test ... :snail:

Spaces within Folder and FileNames is a common misconception , as spaces also serve as a command delimiter it will call for such errors.

Code: Select all

CD desktop/Ts3/ts3client_runscript.sh
CD folder
I'd rather create my onw little script folder and would place all my useful scripts in there.
Common places are either ~/bin or ~/.local/bin
which you create like

Code: Select all

mkdir ~/.local/bin
and
copy the script into like

Code: Select all

cp ts3client_runscript.sh ~/.local/bin/ts3client_runscript.sh
make sure the script is executable

Code: Select all

chmod +x ~/.local/bin/ts3client_runscript.sh
and replace the line within the starter above

Code: Select all

x-terminal-emulator -T "My Teamspeak" -e bash -c "~/.local/bin/ts3client_runscript.sh; echo;read -n 1 -s -r -p '...Press any key to close'"
