MX-18.3 updated correctly.
Hi, I can't get orca screen reader to work. Accessibility enabled. Thanks for the solution.

I tried like crazy to get orca to work, but never got it fuctioning. I would love to get it working as well.

hi, isn't there an orca package manager for mx linux? Should we declare that this distribution is not accessible to blind people? Thanks for the reply.

I have also had no success with Orca. Installed the package from the MXPI. but does not show in menus and Catfish cannot find it.
Backup: Dell9010, MX-18.2, Win7, 120 SSD, WD 232GIB HD, 4GB RAM
Primary :Homebrew64 bit Intel duo core 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Kingston SSD, Seagate1TB.
MX-18.2 64bit. Also MX17, Kubuntu14.04 & Puppy 6.3.

It seems worthwhile to see if we can get it working on MX. It has a couple of recommends: xbrlapi, libgail-common
that Debian installs by default and MX doesn't. They don't mention anything about XFCE in the wiki article, but hint that it just needs manual setup. https://wiki.debian.org/Orca

Both MXPI and SynapticPM list Gnome-Orca version 3.2.2 . This is shown as Old in the Gnome info, with Version 3.0 listed as correct for Buster. The latest version
seems to be Orca 3.34. Am still sorting out the dependencies, there look to be limitations on the Python version used. All a bit complicated/confusing so far but,
it
is certain that getting Orca to run on MX is far from a simple package installation. More to come.....hopefully.
