On Alternativeto it says Clementine is discontinued. Last post on their website is 2016.
Bummer, because i like Clementine.

A list of all alternative audio players.

https://alternativeto.net/software/clem ... form=linux

There should be something that suits your needs.

:snail:
That's the weird thing, I tried many music players and they all either can't recognize my cd's or store one cd in pieces in two places. Only Rhythmbox works as it should.

All the support over there seems to be bemoaning the fact that there is little support for Clementine.

No wonder Solus and Ubuntu rather choose Rhythmbox as a music player....
I thought solus used Lollypop as their music player. That was the case a few years ago. I use Lollypop in MX, so i know it works. And it's a actively developed gtk3 application.

I was never keen on rhythmbox but surely if you installed it from the standard Debian stable repos for Stretch, it should work on mx17/18.

What text output do you get if you run rhythmbox from terminal? Paste it here.
I tried out Solus Mate version, but all the programs I installed din't want to launch.

Anyway, I have installed Budgie desktop from the MX package manager but don't now how to boot into that. Yes, I know I should start another thread for that.

I'll answer that generically... if you are using LightDM on the top Right-side is a small button see the attached image. The little XF button. Click it and all your available desktops will appear. Choose your favorite.

I have the standard MX Linux desktop in front of me and only see all the standard buttons. There is only the green log out button at the top left. I do see that Budgie is installed in the Package manager, it's greyed out but I can't find the Budgie anywhere.

Is there a setting for the player to look up the title?

For example in ripperx, when I rip songs from a CD, it does not have the titles.
Then you check the cddb, and if you have an internet connection, it looks up the titles, and fills them in.

So, maybe clementine has a similar option, that you must enable to get the titles from the cddb

Manyroads is referring to the login screen, top right corner. Thus you have to log out of the standard MX (xfce) desktop first.
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Thank you so much, I forgot all about that.

I'm in Budgie, very nice!

The fact that a piece of software is no longer developed does not mean it shouldn't be used, of course.

Chris
It's not that i cannot use Clementine (i use it everyday), but like this (post) question issue and some other issues, like soundcloud connection are not working. If it was still in development this issues could be fixed. ;)

@lekkermx

Did you try Guayadeque.

This player does the job. It shows the track info from CD.

It even has a Forum from community feedback and questions.
