Is MX-17 Impacted by Latest SystemD Flaw?

https://thehackernews.com/2019/01/linux ... ploit.html
Security researchers have discovered three vulnerabilities in Systemd, a popular init system and service manager for most Linux operating systems, that could allow unprivileged local attackers or malicious programs to gain root access on the targeted systems.

However, some Linux distros such as SUSE Linux Enterprise 15, openSUSE Leap 15.0, and Fedora 28 and 29 are not affected, as "their userspace

Just curious ... I doubt I'm a high-interest user!

we use debian's, which the article says is impacted.

I suspect the security folks will patch it.

however, you are only affected if you area actually booting with the systemd option, which is not our default. You are not impacted with the default MX setup.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

For those using antiX - no impact at all.

Cool, I use the default, it's one of the reasons I came to MX-17 in the first place.
Thanks!

Time for a PSA?

This is your boot ...

This is your boot on systemd ...

BTW, DistroWatch has a nice tool that shows you Distros that don't use systemd.

As an aside (which mods are free to move or tell me to move)... I have been trying to get firejail/ firectl to actually work. I keep running into 'what seem to be' systemd related problems with those tools that cause things to fail (most notably Calibre and clamtk). I posted the systemd -firejail related problems here (but am not 'schmart' enough to untangle what's going on)....
