updates for MX Flash Drive?

#1 Post by rc racer » Fri Oct 05, 2018 1:41 am

I am still new using a flash Drive as my OS, and I am not sure what is the best way to go about keeping it updated and secure with out using up drive space with updates. Is there a way to keep it secure and regulate the amount of space used by updating it? It is a 32 GB Flash drive and I have 21 GB left. I would like some good advice on this one.

If you are running live with persistence, after a big update you should remaster to reclaim space.

Keep in mind that most updates overwrite something that is already present, so usually disk space changes during updates is small.

The exception is live with persisntence. Anything updated is actually duplicated in the persistence file. Doing a remaster combines the contents of the persistence file back into the main system file, freeing up space.for new persistence files.

I am assuming that I can find a video on how to remaster a live MX flash drive on the YouTube link in your reply. Could you tell me if there is also a site I can go to on this forum or elsewhere that could give me documentation as how to do it? Thanks for your reply and I aim to do it when I get it figured out.
