Help for Current Versions of MX
4 posts • Page 1 of 1
I have installed linssid from Synaptic package manager within MX and it seemed to pick dependencies as well and installed them too. It seems to be a GUI tool for searching for wifi stations. When I click on the program which is in the whisker menu under Internet, nothing happens. Can anyone help please? I have used it before but that was in Mint 18.

You can fix the permission issue with this one-liner from the terminal command-line for the current user:
Code: Select all
L=share/applications/linssid.desktop; sed 's/^Exec=/&su-to-root -X -c /' /usr/$L > ~/.local/$L
With the command I gave you, you have created a desktop entry
within your own local/share/applcations.
As the starter "overlays" the existing desktop-starter in /usr/share/applications,
only the user-local variant it available within the menu.
Removing ( or renaming) you local version will make the system version visible again.
So you need not to run the command twice ;=)
