What browser does everyone use

#1 Post by Stentz63 » Wed Jul 18, 2018 7:00 pm

I am new to Mx and loving it by the way.
I only have issues with web browsers and slow laggy performance. I have tried Chromium, Firefox and firefox esr. Also opera. they all seem to run slow and choppy especially in the video department.. Am i missing something or is there a better suited browser out there that I havent tried.
Thank in advance

I am a Seamonkey fan! Built originally from the ashes of the old Netscape Internet Suite, Mozilla revived it and retained it's "full suite" capabilities (Browsing, Email, and Chat).

Seamonkey has thousands fewer lines of code than Firefox, yet it performs the same - only faster! And it includes a very Thunderbird-like e-mail interface, super simple and having the full WYSIWYG composer.

In my 2 gb ram laptop i can not use firefox anymore since a couple of years ago. It just kills the laptop.
So i use palemoon for almost everything.
And chrome for netflix and spotify (I couldn't make them work on palemoon)

It's in the repositories, so yeah! I always prefer to use Synaptic Package Manager because it checks and resolves most dependency issues. It's great for older hardware that doesn't run Firefox well anymore.

Also: No longer a Mozilla project (but still hosted there), Seamonkey's future is a little less certain in the long term. But for now it's well-supported and kicks butt.

I run Firefox and Vivaldi. About half on one and half on the other. I split the type of browsing I do between the two. Stuff I log into like banking, email and such is on Firefox, configured for reasonable privacy and security. Vivaldi is for general surfing and has a bit more open settings. I'm finding Vivaldi quite fast and functional.

Seamonkey sounds interesting and I'll have to try it out.
