[SOLVED]Lightdm problem

#1

Post by Atlanelan » Tue Jul 03, 2018 11:04 pm

I changed the default icon of Lightdm with lightdm greeter settings. Now there is no login section.Only the top panel and the changed icon as wallpaper is showing in Lightdm.I tried Ctrl+Alt+F1 and dpkg-reconfigure lightdm. It does not change lightdm. How can I get back lightdm login? Is there any way to login to MX xfce directly and then reconfigure lightdm?
System info:MX 17.1, 64bit,Intel,Nvidia,Nouveau driver.

yes you've got a couple of options.

1. if you can log in at the text console prompt (cntl+alt+F1) then you can use the "startx" command to start Xfce. you should go directly to the desktop. then you can use mx-tweak to reset the lightdm config to the defaults (Config Options tab).

2. there is also a clean copy of the system lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf file in /etc/lightdm/mx17. you could copy that directly in the console.

Code: Select all

cp /etc/lightdm/mx17/lightdm-gtk-greekter.conf /etc/lightdm
then reboot and the old lightdm greeter config should be in effect.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
