Deadbeef missing album artwork plugin SOLVED

#1 Post by kevtardis » Sat Jun 09, 2018 4:59 pm

Previous versions of DeadBeef contained a plugin called Album Artwork. The current version in the repos does not have this plugin.

Can I download it and add it myself (if so, how?), or can it be added to DeadBeef in the repos? I can download an older version, but would prefer to go through the proper channels.

Thanks.

Indeed. artwork.so is missing in the mx17-build (version 0.7.2). Just download the static build debian-package from DeaDBeeF.
http://deadbeef.sourceforge.net/
I've not tested artwork myself. The static build will just install into /opt/deadbeef and seem to work without any issue.

You might give it a try and if that's working for you, just let us know.
The static build deb-package provided from DeaDBeef is availe here:
DeaDBeef's deb-packag
You need to unsinstall the current mx17-build and install the above from with Thunar.
I'm sure our package team will find a way to build it with the artwork-plugin. But no promise from me ;) ;=)

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I installed the static build on my 32-bit PC (running MX-17) earlier this year, and it worked fine, so I'm sure it will work ok on my new/old 64-bit PC.

Didn't want to get in the habit of installing stuff outside the repos without reporting it to someone first...

Will mark this as solved.

I just did an install of the static package on another system and was disturbed to find many plugins missing from the plugin page at SF. Possibly the developer is is concentrating his efforts on his DDB2 mobile app. They still appear at debian-multimedia but fortunately I could get the ones I wanted from another MX installation just by copying over ~/local/lib/deadbeef.

The static build mentioned above provides me about 45 plugin/extensions including the "Cover Art" artwork.so-lib which are located within the lib-folder "/opt/deadbeef/lib/deadbeef".
The addional 8 plugin's are not part of the DeaDBeeF provided build nore within the soucrces at gihub. They might go into an extra package, of requested.

Ah yes, I see a number of the plugins are included. The ones I'm talking about are:

Code: Select all

ddb_misc_filebrowser_GTK2.so ddb_vis_musical_spectrum_GTK2.so
ddb_misc_filebrowser_GTK3.so ddb_vis_musical_spectrum_GTK3.so
ddb_misc_replaygain_scan_GTK2.so ddb_vis_spectrogram_GTK2.so
ddb_misc_replaygain_scan_GTK3.so ddb_vis_spectrogram_GTK3.so
ddb_misc_replaygain_scan.so ddb_vis_vu_meter_GTK2.so
ddb_misc_waveform_GTK2.so ddb_vis_vu_meter_GTK3.so
ddb_misc_waveform_GTK3.so stereo_widener.so
of which none are included and the only one still on the Plugins web page is the ReplayGain one iirc. I downloaded all of these from the Plugins page some time ago.

Folks that use DeadBeef, sure know that Inforbar Plugin has some bugs.

Code: Select all

https://github.com/VolkMilit/deadbeef-infobar
has repaired them, but I thing go against with equalizer resizing.

Anyway... the producing of malformed link to similar artist is repaired by this version :)
