Those are checkboxes they are active, the 2 on the right are radio-boxes that can be selected one at a time.
Ideally I would have a different groupbox named "Modes" with the 2 modes of operation, the Options would be in a different group box, but that's not an easy change, it kind of ruins the design of the app (it's doable, but Qt Designer is a bit of a pain sometimes, you move a box and it ruins the layout of everything around...)
I honestly didn't notice that 2 were radio boxes while the rest were checkboxes. But maybe I'm just not that observant.

This is how my suggestion looks in visual form, which I was thinking might be easier to implement - after all you just have to add some text, right?:

How about this, is it more clear if it's in a "Modes" group box?

BTW, the group boxes have border in some themes... like this in Numix:

Not sure why in some themes the lines show and in some they don't...

It also should be "Mode" instead of "Modes" because you can choose only one... Also moved the dd explanation to the proper place, how about this:

What abot this. Instead of
"Normal mode - full featured ISO"
"Copy image to USB (dd)"
use this:
"Normal mode - writeable LiveUSB"
"Image mode - readonly LiveUSB (dd)"
New user might have no idea what normal or image is, but might understand "writable" and "readonly"

I think the Full Featured language should remain, if only because its the same language in the backend live-usb-maker cli tool. adding "read-only" to the dd mode is a good idea.

Code: Select all

"Copy image to USB (dd, read only)"
http://www.youtube.com/runwiththedolphin
lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-17
lenovo s21e & 100s - antiX-17, MX17(live-usb)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Why not

Code: Select all

"dd-Copy image to USB (read only)"
As this it what it does.

How about:

- Normal mode - full-featured LiveUSB
- Image mode - read-only LiveUSB (dd)

"full-featured ISO" is incorrect, the LiveUSB is the result, ISO is the input.

Another idea, hope I don't drive people nuts:

- Full-featured mode - writable LiveUSB
- Image mode - read-only LiveUSB (dd)

This is more logical and the writable/read-only parallel is a bit clearer.
