Sure, good luck. Idk if there's an easier way or not?

from a live-USB, mount the installed system's partition and delete that installed version of /var/cache/brightness-settings-cache (the entire folder).

then reboot into the installed system.

lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-18
lenovo s21e - MX-18, antiX-17.3.1 (live-USB)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Well, I borked something up. I was in such a hurry, I probably deleted the wrong folder lol.
After the boot sequence, there was only a blinking cursor.
I reinstalled and am now more careful lowering the brightness.
Thanks!

If you shine a very bright flashlight at the screen, can you make out the controls without the backlight? I can do this with my laptop if I turn off the backlight completely and take it out into full sunlight.

If you shine a very bright flashlight at the screen...
Well now you've gone and done it!! I'm dying to try it out, and won't be able to rest until I know.
I just don't feel like reinstalling today if it doesn't work.
I'll try and wait until it happens accidentally.

II know this is resurrecting an old and boring post, but I did it again.
And the flashlight trick worked!! :number1:
Just barely I made out enough to see brightness controls.
