One thing I think I'm noticing is it reads ~/.fonts.conf

So if you have settings there it'll do your fonts better, if you want, try entering this into ~/.fonts.conf -

Code: Select all

<?xml version='1.0'?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM 'fonts.dtd'>
<fontconfig>
 <match target="font">
  <edit mode="assign" name="rgba">
   <const>rgb</const>
  </edit>
 </match>
 <match target="font">
  <edit mode="assign" name="hinting">
   <bool>true</bool>
  </edit>
 </match>
 <match target="font">
  <edit mode="assign" name="hintstyle">
   <const>hintslight</const>
  </edit>
 </match>
 <match target="font">
  <edit mode="assign" name="antialias">
   <bool>true</bool>
  </edit>
 </match>
  <match target="font">
    <edit mode="assign" name="lcdfilter">
      <const>lcddefault</const>
    </edit>
  </match>
</fontconfig>
edit - Course that won't help with fonts size, just rendering.
I already have this configuration in both /home/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf and /etc/fonts/local.conf. It doesn't make noticeable difference.

travis82, maybe we need to hear what system font is rich using? (and retest while using that particular font)
