Avidemux also makes it pretty easy to trim videos. I think you can install it from deb-multimedia without dragging in anything else (only install avidemux, then disable the repo) or I have it in a separate third-party OBS repo: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=127574 Patent issues with some encoders that it uses keeps it out of Debian and MX repos.

Looking at some Tutorial for Shotcut.

I've been using Shotcut recently. I've never done Video Editing before but after watching the short-ish Tutorial Videos, on the Shotcut website, I picked it up quick.

It has crashed a few times but if you keep hitting Save, that doesn't really matter.

I tried Openshot (after the crashes, just in case) but it was nowhere near as good or easy to use. At least for me.
