That was my misunderstanding about the date and time in the file name. The developer has replied that it shouldn't be a problem to add that feature like Pluma has it, and also an easy way to check the current cursor position: https://github.com/tsujan/FeatherPad/issues/77 In fact, he says thanks for bringing it up.

I don't know if Qt 5 has built-in hooks for text spellcheck...you would think that it would. But maybe that's outside what the developer intends for the editor. I could ask in another issue...

Pluma is part of Mate desktop environment, with its dependencies, which I always assumed was why it was not looked at.

I thought it's essentially a fork of gedit, just like the whole of Mate started as a fork of Gnome 2, without the current gedit's Client Side Decorations in gtk3.

I personally always wondered why we didn't just go with geany as default, following antiX.

I'm somewhat puzzled at those of you who approve of Pluma having spell check .....
In my case I dislike seeing misspelled words in any form in any application. .

I don't know, but geany is complicated to me in a completely different way. When I first saw it in antiX, after cursory examination I never tried it again and have ignored it ever since. It looked like a programmer's text editor; something not meant for an end-user with a literature major and no knowledge of software design, like me. I would still be using Leafpad, if it had a datestamp.

I do use geany for non programming stuff, though it's mainly for notes, lists, and cutting and pasting of useful text from Web research. I don't use it to type articles or essays though.

It's great for fiddling with conky scripts, because of all the colour coding of programming text, plus it comes with its own colour picker. Its search function seems easier to use and get to than feather pad.

I like Featherpad's Find and Replace a lot more than I do Leafpad's, and I use that quite a bit. You can also turn off fpad's syntax highlighting and make it more like a really simple editor.

The changelog in featherpad's github now advertises configurable date/time pasting per our request, so I'm going to build it.

Edit: you can now paste in the date/time with a right-click. By default, it uses this format: Feb 07, 2018, 14:09:24, but this can be manually changed in the Preferences.

Is there a way to fix the "Recently Modified" feature? Currently shows random selected files.

I can't reproduce that on today's build. Does it do the same thing if you switch it to "Recently Opened"?

Both in Opened and Modified, when saving the file, it records. At next load, doesn't show. Also doesn't save the config.... next load, returned back to Recently Modified.

I like Featherpad, surprise that a basic feature is not working.
