I installed mx17 on an ASUS EeePC, all was running, except for some FN keys and no sound from the speaker.
After following the instructions of the thread below and restarting the pc the speaker is working now.
Wrong sound configuration on ASUS Eee PC
Bug #1728745 reported by UlfZibis on 2017-10-30
Affects: ALSA driver
With the standard installation of Ubuntu 16.04 32-Bit the single/mono internal speaker doesn't work on ASUS Eee PC with ALC269VB sound chip.
- sudo apt-get install alsa-tools-gui
- sudo -H hdajackretask
- Override "Internal Speaker" pin 0x14 with "Line out (Front)"
- Invoke "Install boot override".
With this workaround, the Speaker entry (icon) no more appears in Audio settings, so no settings or test sound are accessible. Only the Headphone entry (icon) appears, if a headphone is plugged in.
