What about if you add /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf with the contents:

Code: Select all

Section "Device"
    Identifier  "Intel Graphics"
    Driver      "intel"
EndSection

I use a version of this on my laptop to make it use the Intel driver instead of modesetting on MX17, since I get annoying scroll tearing in Firefox otherwise.

I tried that on a different machine. Unfortunately X doesn't start. in Xorg.log it complains
no device found
no screen found
Any suggestions?

Today I had the idea to go back to mx15 and prepare it from there.
_But_ an average office computer can't handle the updates from the latest release, u need more than 4.7 GB memory.
In the end it's the same problem as with mx-16 after remastering the grafix driver will not be correct. Low resolution @0Hz, intel and vesa driver.
Is there probably the same routine u do at the "end" of a version? - That breaks the grafix stuff on remastering?
