System Requirements
I noticed that my old nc6000 is struggling with MX-16. I tried the live media on an Optiplex 9020 and it was moving great like expected. I reviewed the minimum and suggested system requirement. I guess my question to the forum. What is the least hardware specs that would still make MX-16 run optimal without struggling

Re: System Requirements
You can upgrade to 2 GB of ram and 7200 rpm hdd.
Or find a rig with a dual core cpu, 4 GB of ram and should it have SATA, upgrade to a SSD.

Re: System Requirements
@Anti : and in several reviews I've seen in French MX and Antix are often mistaken. It is not useless to remind them MX is midweight and so not suitable for old hardware.
I installed it on an old inspiron 5100 to test (P4 and 1 Gig of ram) and it is barely functioning. Not too bad but Antix is clearly better.

My Acer Aspire One, Atom 1.6 GHz single core (HT), with 2 GB RAM and 160 HDD Handles MX fine. But will upgrade to an SSD before I give it to someone. Been a great little Netbook.
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.

Re: System Requirements
Mine works well with 32-bit MX 14. I believe 32-bit versions of the distribution take up less resources (RAM) even if the machine can run 64-bit. Only issue is potentially the problem with flash.lucky9 wrote:My Acer Aspire One, Atom 1.6 GHz single core (HT), with 2 GB RAM and 160 HDD Handles MX fine. Re: System Requirements
I run antiX on a machine of similar vintage (actually older). 900 mhz amd duron with 512 mb of ram. If your machine will run mx at all, it should be much happier with antiX 32 bit.
luckily, antiX 16.1 released today!

**edit** ninja'd by jerry. I'll add that mx is based on antiX, so its the mother ship for the liveUSB stuff as well.

Re: System Requirements
512MB RAM is iffy with Lubuntu. If AntiX isn't to your liking, I'd seriously give LxPupTahr 15.12 a go. It uses LXDE as the DE, and comes with the much lighter than straight Firefox, PaleMoon web browser.
