Unable to execute bash script from thunar

#1

Post by 1john8989 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 3:44 am

(#!/bin/bash) script(s) works fine in mx17 where 'execute' is no1 top available option on menu. In mx18, no 'execute' on menu, double-click script opens in default featherpad! Just hangs when terminal made default program. Script works when run from terminal (./srcipt.sh). And yes, 'Allow this file to run as a program' is checked, and ran chmod +x in terminal. FS is ext2.

It's was a change made by Thunar devs...

You need to revert the change using XFCE Settings editor:

Have a look here. You'll need to add the /misc-exec-shell-scripts-by-default (don't miss out the leading forward slash at the start) by selecting New - Type as Boolean Value as True.

Thanks Chris! Gotta love those hidden settings! Geez, HIDDEN  Because in the hands of a normal person, those settings could destroy the known world!!!!!!! Gotta love em.....

Code: Select all

xfconf-query --channel thunar --property /misc-exec-shell-scripts-by-default --create --type bool --set true

You have NO idea what normal people are capable of..... we have reasons for removing things.

BUT as you can see it is easily added back in.
