screen display(solved)

#1 Postby giorgos_ » Sun Oct 08, 2017 6:33 am

when i connect my laptop to my tv using vga doesn't read the tv device and appear only 1024x768(laptop) option and not 1920x1080 (tv) so i can't watch movie using tv monitor. I didn't found any settings in tv menu but with windows vista was ok without settings. i had the same problem with peppermint os 7.

You do not need to be root for these commands. Copy and paste them at your terminal. Check your vga and monitor that are on and ok.

Code: Select all

xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync

Code: Select all

xrandr --addmode  VGA1 1920x1080_60.00

Code: Select all

xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1920x1080_60.00

And check now your screen resolution.
After reboot or logout you will lose these settings to be permanent need other procedure which I do not know since we have lightdm.

Try this, with monitor on, reboot the computer and tell if something happened.

Did you actually use the 1280x1024 resolution like example shown in the wiki?

If you did try changing it instead to the 1920x1080 resolution that you really want.

Code: Select all

sudo make-xorg-conf 1920x1080 -o /etc/X11/xorg.conf
