Please review new Wiki entry on Hibernation
Rich and I collaborated to get a FIRST DRAFT in place:
https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/hibernate
It pulls together material from a number of threads on the Forum and will be referenced in the Users Manual.
[I also linked to a new entry on Swap that is entirely blank ATM if anyone feels motivated...]

I've not tested the things listed, just done a read-through.

Re: Please review new Wiki entry on Hibernation
It's used in the US, but more correct is "alternative." Thanks.

Re: Please review new Wiki entry on Hibernation
For information, I tried the procedure for sysvinit on two systems, a desktop and a laptop. It performed correctly on both.

That is interesting, thanks.

Re: Please review new Wiki entry on Hibernation
Some typos:
FWIW, hibernation works on my laptop with pmutils and uswswap installed with both sysvinit and systemd boots, but I suspect that the 4.13 kernel (Liquorix) has enabled this for sysvinit. Sysvinit gives me a text screen that shows the progress of the hibernation procedure and restore upon resume; systemd does not...just freezes the desktop until power down.
Search and mark for completely removal:

1. You must have created a swap pertition

Re: Please review new Wiki entry on Hibernation
Not sure we need the CLI entry, but systemctl hibernate in a root terminal also works. If a user wanted they could create a one click launcher to start hibernation. Saves 500 ms. avoiding a second click.

Re: Please review new Wiki entry on Hibernation
With a boot on sysvinit? Or only systemd?systemctl hibernate in a root terminal also works
