I'm trying to be lazy but then I remember I have to give work to do to translators and documentation team
Thanks to all of you for providing such a great comprehensive manual!

WRONG HYPERLINK:

As mentioned on a different occasion, the hyperlink in chapter " 5.2.1 Standard repos" still leads to https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/repos-mx-15, whereas it should lead to https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/repos-mx-16.

Greetings, Joe

Might I suggest a small addition to the introduction to the manual (or even to the welcome screen!)--from a post I made to a thread about installing Gnome3:
It is needful to point out that MX Package Installer (MX-PI)
IS NOT
Synaptic !!
With MX, ALWAYS attempt to install from MX-PI
FIRST
Before trying to do it from the command line or using Synaptic.
Probably 90% of the problems people new to MX keep having could be alleviated by adhering to this advice.

Thanks! In the current Manual (Alt-F1), released less than a week ago, I made some changes along this line of thinking, but I this would be good to stress in the next version.

Unfortunately, a large number of users simply won't look at the Manual or Help files.

1) Please provide the output of the command

Code: Select all

inxi -S
2) Is that on a clean install? Have you installed any other desktop environments (e.g., MATE)?
3) If you click Start menu > Keyboard, Application Shortcuts tab: what do you see across from the entry "mx-manual"? Whatever is there, you can highlight that row and click the "Edit" button, then press at the same time Alt-F1

To be more specific, it's the Popular Apps tab in MXPI that the user should try first.

After all, if you access the Full App Catalogue tab in MXPI instead, the whole list of packages in Main/Stable Repo is essentially what you'll see if you open Synaptic or just install from terminal (without changing any repos).
