well, thanks for trying.
All the testing did lead to some nice improvements, which I'll get up to the repo this week.

Update via Synaptic today for ref:
I did notice a frame-like outline around Synaptic menus that does not appear elsewhere (EG. FF, TB, Thunar). Might be something or nothing (edit-it went away after stopping Compton and enabling xfce compositing again).Commit Log for Tue Jan 24 09:56:54 2017
