How to guarantee your internet connection

#1 Post by asinoro »

Network manager is a very important application that's why you should keep this application stored in extra place for backup.

If for any reason you do not have internet connection and there is a problem caused by the network-manager, and you do not have saved in an other place, the only option is to find another pc, laptop, to download this important application, and to transport and install on you pc, laptop.

What you should do, first go to /var/cache/apt/archives/ and find the network-manager, copy it and save it in an other place, partition, USB, etc. If it is not there, then you download it again to find it in this folder with the command:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install --reinstall network-manager
For Debian you can find the original packages where you can download it from here:

https://packages.debian.org/jessie/network-manager

If for any reason you want to keep a version of network-manager not to be update and upgrade, then from Synaptic find and select network-manager > Package > Lock Version.
If your case is solved, edit [Solved] to your initial post title to help other users.
